Andrea is on the Luncheon Committee of the Lupus Research Alliance, which she chaired in 2017.  She lives in New York with her husband, with whom she shares a passion for Opera.

Andrea Abrams (formerly Andrea Bills) is a 25-year retail veteran with extensive experience in international retail expansion and global real estate acquisitions, development, merchandising and repositioning.  Andrea founded Andrea Abrams LLC (dba Abrams Global) in 2013 in New York to help retailers and brands with their national and international expansion.  Since launching Abrams Global, Andrea has focused on international expansion activities, particularly in Latin America, Canada and Europe, as well as US entry strategies for foreign retailers, working for prominent retailers and fashion brands such as Saint Laurent, The White Company, Regatta, A’GACI, Lladro and Etam, among others.  

Andrea has also been involved as a merchandising and leasing advisor to key international landlords in the UK and Canada and prominent projects such as Cap3000 in Nice, France, and American Dream in the New York area.  She also ran US operations for London-based retail agencies Lunson Mitchenall and Time Retail Partners until 2016. 

Previously, Andrea spent a large part of her career in senior positions with US retail REIT General Growth Properties (NYSE: GGP), and held additional positions with Valencia Hotel Group and GS Realty Group, a real estate advisory and transactional services firm she co-founded.  During her 12 years at GGP, Andrea held various senior roles in Development and Asset Management, and helped launch an incubator for new ventures, domestically and internationally.  As GGP’s Vice President of International Ventures, Andrea worked to establish the company’s presence outside the US, with international transactions in Brazil, Turkey and Central America, and forging relationships in Europe, Asia and Latin America.  

Following GGP’s acquisition of Rouse Companies (NYSE: RSE at the time) in 2004, Andrea assumed the role of Vice-President of Mixed-use and Master Planned Communities,with asset management and development responsibilities in GGP's new master-planned community portfolio as well as various assignments to re-develop key GGP retailcenters into mixed-use projects, including the re-zoning and master planning of the 62-acre Ward Village in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. Andrea also served on the Executive Board of The Woodlands Company (TWDC) in Houston, TX, a Joint Venture of GGP and Morgan Stanley at the time.

Andrea is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in the US, where she majored in engineering and architecture.  She was the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi medal for leadership and participated in special programs with Cornell University and the University of Rome. Andrea has been a member of ICSC, BCSC and ULI.  


She is a frequent speaker on the subject of international retail expansion.  Andrea has also lived and worked in several countries in Latin America and Europe and is fluent in multiple languages.
